In 1973 he arranged and composed a musical score called “The Burning of AtlantaEfor Buddha Records and later on, worked as arranger, producer, performer and writer for the likes of Clarence Carter, Candi Staton, Johnny Taylor, Major Lance, Eddie Kendricks, Luther Ingram, Millie Jackson, Flip Wilson, Loletta Holloway, Tamiko Jones and many others.
His solo self titled LP, recorded in 1976 in Atlanta and Memphis, is a class album filled with rare groove cuts, and is mostly thanks to it, but not only, to pieces like “Bump And Hustle MusicEthat Stewart is often labeled as an innovator of disco-funk alongside Roy Ayers or James Brown. That song and our title track "Make Happy Music" are also on this CD.
